WE ARE SUPERSTARS!
We make a difference for people with learning disabilities
About Us
Superstars is a dynamic, energetic, forward-thinking charity and social enterprise which provides life enhancing opportunities for people with learning disabilities.
Founded in 2004, we have grown from a membership of six to almost eighty. Our aim is to provide innovative and fun things to do both during the day and in the evenings, in a safe, supportive environment. We also support the development of those with learning disabilities in many skills both practical and in general wellbeing. This includes communication skills, building self-sufficiency, and facilitating interaction within the community.
Situated in the centre of the busy market town of Cookstown, we provide social, leisure and training opportunities for our members. The majority of these come from all over Mid Ulster. Our provision is tailored to suit their needs whatever their level of ability.
Volunteers Welcome!
Volunteers are the backbone of all our work, providing caring support and sharing skills and enthusiasm while supporting our members and empowering them to be fully involved in all activities.
Students are particularly welcome to participate in all of our activities supporting our members. We accept course work placements from further and higher education establishments.
Older people are also very welcome to participate, all are valued and will receive training and encouragement. All the necessary safeguarding checks will be arranged and provided free of charge by Superstars.
